Link Up Opens & Featured member- Sid Balachandran

So we kick off our first weekly sharing linkup by featuring one of the faces behind B-A-R.

Sid

In his own words, Sid Balachandran has this to say: I am an engineer turned work-at-home Dad. Yes, I occupy a niche spot in society.  It was partly by choice and partly, well fate, I suppose. Anyway, it all worked out. So after almost 2 decades of education, two degrees and a decade of professional employment, I now write. When not running after my almost-three toddler son yelling out phrases like ‘Don’t touch that’, ‘Put that down!’ and much more. At times, I also try to convince people that I write stories that  are worth reading. And if opportunity does present itself, I will also try to tell you about my fatherhood escapades involving diapers, poop, projectile food attacks and ninja-sleeping positions. I also occasional write posts that some may term as light humour. You can find me brewing my various thoughts at:  I Wrote Those Here is Sid’s latest post: So you want kids?

One of his short stories, ‘The Message’ was recently published in an anthology of short stories, ‘Voices Old and New’ by Indireads. The copy is now available to download from Amazon or free for a limited time from the Indireads website:

Well, what Sid has not shared is that he is the one behind the fancy B-A-R member badge that you see in the sidebar here and also another badge that will be coming up next Wednesday. Oh yes! So, do pop over and say ‘Hi’ when you can. Sid would love to hear what you have to say. In the meanwhile, add your links to the blue frog below and stroll around to visit the other blogs. Linkup stays open till next Saturday, January 24th.

Note: You only need to have a blog to add your links to this linkup 🙂

You do not need to be a B-A-R member 🙂

Only new posts written any day from January 18th to January 24th can be added to the linkup.

Each person can add any number of links. No ‘BAR’ on that 😉

Have a good week, people.

  1. p.s. Forgot to mention, that I think it’s great, cool, etc. that you are a stay-at-home Dad. I learned recently that men in general would prefer to be ‘homemakers’ and women earn a living, along those lines. I forget where I heard that; however, just curious if you find that for you! 😉 ❤

    • Funny that you should ask, Elly. I think generally men don’t mind if they’re not the main wage-earners. However society, specially Indian society, makes it really difficult for us to be so. We are criticised left right and centre for the same. But we manage just fine anyway. Thanks for the support.

  2. Shailaja, you have started this ‘feature’ feature with the coolest blogger in the group 🙂 Sid, good job with the badge, and of course with your blog too. Though I have been reading your blog off and on I look forward to knowing more about your cool and multifaceted personality in the weeks and months to come. Cheers.

      • Arrey, no issues at all about that, Sid. I didn’t even notice 😉
Now correct me if I am wrong (Shailaja/Sid) – wasn’t this feature also supposed to be about interacting with the featured blogger about his/her blog inspiration, writing approach, etc etc? If so, then here is my question for you, Sid. Given that your days are quite hectic with your toddler, what time of the day do you find your inspiration/writing mojo most active? And also a second question – when and how did you first become aware that you enjoy writing, esp writing fiction?

    • Hello, Aditi. We meet again 🙂 I hope my drivel and nonsense (with a tinge of humour, ofcourse) did not confuse the heck out of you. Enjoy coupledom – for if you chose to go down the kid way, it’ll be a decade or two before you get back to coupledom again.

  5. Nice to meet you, Sid! 🙂 This is all new to me, as I’ve been on a blogging hiatus. Sounds like a great group to be part of. How does one join up? Can the post be about anything at all or is there a theme?

  6. Nice to meet the man behind the badge! I have appreciated your posts and your comments on mine as well. Thank you. My son is a stay-at-home dad and has 5 kids he takes care of — my hat is off to you as I believe it takes a special kind of man to do that. I look forward to your posts on child care (poop and projectile food in particular LOL)

  7. When I tried adding my link the only box that was “working” was the url box. Therefore, my link does not ‘show’ properly. Sorry. I tried to do it again and was not permitted.
