When I first started my blog, it was more of a journal; a place to be creative, express feelings, reflect, and preserve memories. Though I still think of my blog as a journal, it has become much more than that. I have learned how to write articles and connect with an audience. I have learned that it’s not
just about me. My blog post needs to have something that connects with the reader. It needs to reveal an inner truth, entertain or inform.

Hopefully my writing has improved because of my blogging. I have developed my blogging style; an eclectic mixture of poetry, photos, stories, memories and articles. While my blog will always be mainly a journal for me to express myself, I think my writing has gotten tighter, clearer and cleaner. I am able to write for a fixed word count.

These days, I think about the reader and try to write for them as well. My blog will always be mostly a journal for me to express myself, but it’s much closer to journalism than it was in the early days when it was all about me.

Here is a funny poem I wrote a while back that pokes gentle fun at the narcissistic side of Facebook. For this post, I am rewriting it to fit the blogging as it’s fairly similar.

After all, it’s all about me, me, me!

It’s All About Me!

It’s all about ME, ME, ME!

Come to my blog and you’ll see,

Narcissism rules supreme

Look at me, I’m livin’ the dream!

My cats are the cutest, don’t you agree?

Especially my famous cat, KoBEE,

He is the most adorable cat ever

Everything he does is cute and clever,

I post about everything I think

About what I eat and what I drink,

Every thought or every feeling

Even if it’s not appealing,

I love to post both day and night

Giving my readers such a fright,

I post any time and in any place

Eating up Blogger’s data space,

I like to blog until I drop

Everyone pleads for me to stop,

I’ll never stop blogging, can’t you see?

My blog is all about ME, ME, ME!

I love being creative through writing, photography, art, and music.

I especially enjoy writing poetry, short stories, novels and blogging at www.cattitudeandgratitude.blogspot.com

I live in a small village outside Canada’s capitol city, Ottawa with my husband and two young adult sons, Rory and Eric, 21 and 19. We have an Alaskan Malamute named Loup, an orange tabby named Kobie and a calico cat named Daisy. Anyone who knows me on Facebook has seen endless pet photos whether they wanted to or not!

I sing Alto 2 in a women’s choir, play flute in a concert band and in a duo, Tartan and Tea with my harpist friend. I enjoy being part of the Blog-A-Rhythm blogging group. Writing can be lonely so it is wonderful to have the friendship and support of fellow writers. I also enjoy challenges like the A-Z challenge in April to keep me writing regularly.
