Wordy Wednesday and Blogging #Tip #1- June 2015

Welcome  to Wordy Wednesday at Blog-A-Rhythm.

First, our blogging tip for the week:

Taking your time

What does that even mean? Assume you are a newbie blogger. You decide to start writing, open up a Blogger/ WordPress/ Tumblr account and go to work. You start churning out posts on the topic you love or a subject close to your heart. And you then wait for the traffic to build. You wait a week, two weeks, maybe a month.

Nothing.

Just a bunch of hits from search engines and maybe the odd footfall from friends with whom you’ve shared the post. You get discouraged, as would anyone who starts off in this domain.

But wait. These things take time. I know veteran bloggers and some writers who now just blink with their posts and get ten thousand hits. Most of them, though, admit one crucial thing: They blogged for months, maybe years without a single comment/ like/ share.

So, what’s the secret?

The key is three-fold: Quality, consistency and patience.

Quality: Write good posts. Take your time to write each post.

Consistency: Write regularly. Weekly, monthly, daily- just pick what works for you.

Patience: Take your time to wait for the results. They will come.

  1. Wow, thanks for this encouraging reminder. I truly thought great bloggers start out great. Now I’ve been blogging for 1 1/2 years and still don’t get many comments, but then again I know I’m not a great social media user.

Thanks for this prompt. Is there any way I can submit a contribution other than through the linky? The text linky is inaccessible to my screen reader (don’t as me why, I did contact InLinkz and I thought they’d fix it but they haven’t). While the thumbnail one is accessible, I think it costs money and I can’t expect you to invest this for the one blind reader.
