Wordy Wednesday #3- September 2015 #SentencePrompt

Well, it’s Wednesday and time for our Wordy Wednesday Prompt and Blogging Tip for the Week.

Today’s tip is…

Yes, Keep it Short and Sharp.

Deciding on the best post length can be tricky. One needs a minimum of 300 words to get indexed by search engines, but how long your post should be is entirely up to you. Most experts suggest that the post length should have a read-time length of 1-2 minutes. Shorter posts receive better response from readers.

Posts with too many ideas/thoughts or main thought coming up in the middle of the post will have less appeal. Statistics suggest that most visitors don’t read more than about 60% of what you’ve written. So keep it short and sharp.

A blog post is like a miniskirt. It has to be short enough to be interesting, but long enough to cover the subject.

It’s your turn to share your experiences and thoughts. How long are your posts, usually? We’d love to hear from you in the comment box below.

Now for today’s prompt

    • True that, Parul. Sharp, simple and short posts have an high impact! 500 words posts are generally well accepted, a bit longer though receive a few groans and moans 😀

  1. Those are such wise words for a blogger…..longer posts will hook the reader only if they are exceptionally good or if one is a dedicated follower of your blog….shorter posts are quicker to read and have more relevance in today’s fast-paced world…..the linky btw is still not working for me….

  2. Great advice Shilpa.. Usually, human attention doesn’t stay for a long time unless it is a subject that he/ she likes. It’s better to write a short simple post so that people have time to complete reading the post before they get bored.
Nice prompt by Rajlakshmi. Enjoyed participating and reading other’s take on prompt 🙂

  3. You are spot on, Ramya. With such a short attention span and with hundred things doing the rounds in our heads at a given time, short posts are best. Thanks for writing on this prompt 🙂
