Wordy Wednesday #3- October 2015 #SentencePrompt

Welcome to the new edition of Wordy Wednesday at BAR.

It’s time for our blogging tip for the week:

Give It Time

Plan to invest in blogging for a long time before you see a return. The web is a big, noisy place and unless you’re willing to invest more over a greater period of time than others, you’ll find success nearly impossible. If you’re seeking short-term ROI, or a quick path to recognition, blogging is the wrong path. But if you can stick it out for years without results and constantly learn, iterate, and improve, you can achieve something remarkable.- Rand Fishkin, CEO of Moz

For how long have you been blogging and how has been your journey so far? Did you feel disheartened in the early years of blogging? What made you stick around? Do share your learnings and takeaways in the comment section below.

  1. It is a journey…..a long journey….and fruitful too , only if we are willing to learn and let go of our egos. I have just finished one year of blogging and it seems that there is so much to learn, I am just a drop in the ocean. 🙂

  2. I started blogging in 2006. It was like casual writing of all sorts. There was 1 or 2 posts per year. 🙂 Its only since 2013 when I started my poetry blog, I wrote more frequently. Initially I just wrote and posted, expecting people would some day find it and read. Then I realised gradually that unless I let people know I exist I cannot expect them to read my posts. That is when I started participating via my blogs in challenges, contests and registered in blogging platforms. Since then I have interacted with many fellow bloggers, read their stories, learnt from them and definitely inspired to continue, whatsoever. Now, I know for sure, I will keep writing even if someday the only reader of my blog will be me.

    Thanks 🙂

  3. Such a relevant tip today! I started in 2013 and that time there were hardly and readers. Luckily, I did not know what it meant to have interactions over a post. I hadn’t even known or read other blogs so I took my own time to grow a bit. It worked! Then started my association with other bloggers and this year BAR happened. There has been a lot to learn and get inspired. I’m glad I had the faith to stay put. This is what I intend to do even in years to come.
Vinitha – I like the prompt. Will use it today 🙂

  4. I started off in 2014. There is lot of enthusiasm in year one as you make new friends, discover new blogs. Somehow, year 2 is a bit more of introspection. Atleast, I have been feeling like Is my writing good enough? Some blog posts are so amazing and relevant, I think of the irrelevance in my blog posts. I just have to overcome it.

  5. Thanks Vinitha and my fellow bloggers… I started in 2011. Have been through the rigmorale of getting to grips with collating thoughts, expressing them, presenting them and responding to the reaction. And I have realised that “Writing is Divine”!
There are days I can’t write, frustrated and helpless and tehre are days it just flows. Some call it the muse, I call it the ‘Divine’.
As for networking and reach… I’ve realised its my ‘honesty’ that matters. True emotions connect.

  6. I started blogging in the year 2008. I was adjusting to the new role in my life as a wife and just created a blog out of a whim. I used to scribble little poems since my school days. I thought I will keep an online catalogue for my Void Thoughts which find its way to my mind at random times. It wasn’t blogging for me back then, just scribbling. Last year I started exploring more and found out that there was a lot more that I needed to know about blogging and the journey isn’t the same ever since. It is exciting with more interactions with the blogging community. I feel happy about blogging. 🙂
